Eye Look: Tropical Mattes

*Some products purchased by me, others sent for consideration; all opinions are my own. Links are for convenience purposes only, I am not being paid for this post.
I'm back with that less-practical eye look I mentioned last time, yay!  It started as a vision in my head and this is what I ended up with. In my head, the look was much more pastel; I'd pictured the colors being paler, and the orange was more peachy. I still like how it turned out though, not too bad for this slightly rusty blogger. :)

Products:
-Lime Crime Primer
-Milani Shadow Eyez pencil in Almond Cream all over as base
-BH Cosmetics 120 palette, first edition (hot melon-orange on lid, pale shimmery champagne-gold on tearduct, pearl-white as highlight)
-Lime Crime d'Antoinette pressed palette "Ribbonesque" (lilac purple on outer lid)
-Sleek Acid Palette (orchid shade on outer corner, magenta w/ blue sheen on lower lashline and winged out)
-generic eyeshadow palette, super black shade to line eye
-Urban Decay eyeshadow in Walk of Shame to blend out edges, Faint on brow
-Sugarpill "Tako" matte white pressed shadow on browbone
-theBalm Rockstar palette, Presto on brow (dark brown)
-MAC Blacktrack Fluidline (upper tightline between lashes)
-Prestige My Blackest Lashes mascara

I'm unused to working with matte eyeshadows these days, since I tend to use mostly shimmery loose minerals and such. I wanted to get some use out of the many palettes I have and do something different for a change. I'm glad I got to use the Lime Crime palette; I haven't used it much since I received it. I never did an official review but maybe I should. I really do like it; I don't own many pastel-y shadows and the colors are nice to work with. You can see in the photos that the lilac purple is quite pigmented.

I wish I'd done the placement a bit differently, I didn't really plan it out much before I did it. I would have included a little more purple, but I still like it. The orange looked slightly more peachy, not so fiery in person; in the pics it looks like Flamepoint, the pressed orange from Sugarpill which I adore. It's still pretty :) I love how the bottom turned out, you can see the gold blending with the pink under the lashline, and also the blue flash in the magenta color. I got a little better at picture-taking for this look, I was so out-of-practice before. :P

Thanks for reading!♥

EotD: Ziggy Stardust

 Hello :)
This is an EotD I did a few nights ago for fun. For some reason it's hard to see in the first pic but I used orange and red on the lid; it looks like the red kind of took over but the orange was there, I assure you! I wanted to do a sunset type look using orange, red, and purple/deep blue. Then it sort of morphed into this "80's futuristic" look a'la Ziggy Stardust.. that's what the colors reminded me of, lol.
Products:

-BFTE Cosmetics primer
-NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
-BH 120 palette, peachy shade on inner corner of lid
-Sugarpill Flame point on middle of lid
-Sugarpill Love+ on outer third of lid
-Sugarpill Poison Plum on outer corner and crease
-CS 88 Palette, deepest matte blue to deepen crease, blended out over purple, and outer corner of lower lashline
-Sugarpill Royal Sugar under lower lashline
-BFTE Blue Bird on waterline and tearduct
-Sugarpill Tako on browbone
Sugarpill Tiara as highlight, applied on browbone and around/partially over the purple
BFTE Whisper applied over crease to blend purple and silver together
-MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
-Maybelline Mega Plush mascara in Blackest Black
-Duo Dark lash glue
-Andrea Modlash falsies in 53 Black
-CS 88 Palette, various shades on brow

I tried to use Royal Sugar on my lower lashline but it wasn't really sticking so I reverted to an old favorite, BFTE's Blue Bird. It stayed amazingly well on my waterline, better than pencil or anything else I've tried. I think I might have stumbled onto something great :D
Unfortunately, the flash in these pics cut through the silver on my browbone; in person it was more solid and very shiny and looked really cool. I think for certain looks, using a reflective silver instead of a neutral light shadow as a highlight can give a look a really cool effect :)

Thanks for reading!

Singinferyoo: Pinkie Pie look!

Hey guys, check out this sweet look by my sister Abby (singinferyoo) inspired by Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic!
Please click the link to see more details on her Makeupbee! (And Follow/Luv while you're there!)

My sisters and I decided to do a little series of looks based on characters from the show. Abby wanted Pinkie Pie because Pinkie is her favorite pony; their personalities are identical, lol. I think this look embodies both Pinkie and Abby perfectly! I adore the bright colors, the pink brows, the little balloon details, and I love the way she did the eyeliner!
Remember to check out her Makeupbee to see the full look and all the details :)

Coming soon... Applejack! ;)

Makeupbee Contest Look: Scarlet Macaw

Hey guys! I've been pretty busy lately so I guess Summer is in full-swing now ;)
I have a look to share which I'm excited about! It's for the Makeupbee/Inglot Tropical themed contest.
 (VOTE FOR MY ENTRY HERE!)
My inspiration was the Scarlet Macaw in this lovely photo taken by RainaDayze:

Always remember to credit back to the original owner!
I love the colors in the feathers so I tried to capture them in my look. I used mainly red, green, and blue, with a little yellow thrown in; I also added black and white accents and finished it off with bold blue/black feathery lashes to mimic the darker feathers at the tips of the bird's wings.
PLEASE CLICK THE PICS TO VIEW IN DETAIL!
Overcast daylight, no flash.

With flash.

Lips with flash.

Lips:
NYX Slim Lip Pencils in:

-Tangerine (middle of lower lip)

My favorite part of this look is actually the lips; I wasn't trying to do Ombre lips but it sort of ended up having a slight Ombre effect which I think looks really cool. I just did a two-toned lip, leaving the bottom one nearly nude but the shape is still visible. (I call it the Kim Possible lip, lol.)

I went through a lot to secure this look; I'd been planning to do something for the contest since before it started but life kept me from it until last Monday. Unfortunately my efforts were not blessed with fruit.. I ended up trying and failing multiple times, lol. Needless to say I was bummed. :(
Later in the week I rallied myself to try again and this is what happened. Thankfully this time I had the inspiration and motivation to achieve it. (The parrot idea really paid off! ;D)
I also somehow managed to take good photos; it was a very overcast day so there was hardly any sunlight but I think that actually made my pictures better. I just used my tripod, a reflector, and natural light from my window. Oh, and a fan to keep me cool and blow my hair around a little for effect ;)

I hope you enjoyed it and again, please vote for my entry on Makeupbee! There's only a few days left in the contest.
Thanks for reading!<33

EOTD: Candy Dragon

Hey there! After a very busy but thoroughly enjoyable weekend, I'm back with a new look; it's sort of unofficially called "Candy Dragon" because of the colors, obviously, and because the shape reminds me a bit of a dragon. Or something.
My inspiration came from my model's outfit on se.gosupermodel.com
I loved the color combination of the pretty pastels with the indigo hair and gold accents, and you may be able to see the shape of her fin-like ears and gold wings in the shape of the eyeshadow. ;3 I used some new products, as well as some I haven't used in a while. I don't know if the colors look quite pastel but anyway..
Click the pics to view full size/color/detail:
Sorry this one is so dark but I didn't want to obliterate the detail by messing too much with the exposure etc.
This is the one I edited most heavily because the white balance was weird, but I think it's my favorite picture; it looks cool :)
Products:

-TFSI Candlelight
-Tick:Tock Cosmetics Infinity Shadow Base in Milky Way (white)
-Lime Crime Makeup D'Antoinette Fantasy Palette
-BH 120 Palette, 1st edition (pale butter yellow shade)
-CS 88 Palette (purple and pink shades)
-BFTE "Midnight Kisses" (deep blurple on outer edge)
-BFTE "Aphrodite" (sheer shimmery purple patted over purple shade)
-BFTE "Soleil" (pale metallic yellow on tearduct)
-BFTE "Autumn" (metallic gold) with BFTE Mix & Fix
-BFTE "Way Up High" and "Satin Sheets" (whites on browbone, outer edge, under tearduct)
-Lime Crime Makeup Uniliner liquid liners in Quill and Orchid-acious (black and purple)
-Sephora white pencil on waterline
-Cover Girl Lash Perfection mascara
-Ardell lashes
-Blue and purple shades from 88 palette and Midnight Kisses on brow, used with Mix & Fix
-Mehron Celebre Pro HD creme foundation and mark. Powder Buff in Nude on skin

I'm so used to taking makeup pics in daylight now but last night I was struck with inspiration so I had to make do with my old system of regular lights and using flash; that's why each photo looks a bit different, because I'm constantly altering the lighting/angle etc. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this look! It was challenging to do because it's a bit out of my norm, but I think it turned out okay.

Thanks for reading!

Day 22: Spring Brights challenge

Day 22: Spring Brights! This was a makeup challenge I decided to do spur of the moment last night. I love how it turned out<3
Please click the pics to enlarge and view in all their brightness!

Products:

-UDPP
-NYX Milk
-BH 120 palette, 1st edition (hot melon-orange, light melon orange, and hot pink shades)
-NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils in Electric Blue and Lime (lower lashline)
-BFTE "Blue Bird" (bright blue, outer lower lashline)
-BFTE "Peacock" (teal, middle lower lashline)
-BFTE "Lavish" (bright lime green, inner lower lashline)
-BFTE "Glistening" (sparkly white w/pink sheen, highlight)
-BFTE "Sweet N' Spicy" (frosty light peachy pink, patted over orange on middle lid)
-BFTE "7 Seas" (matte teal, brow)
-Wet N' Wild "Turquoise"coloricon pencil (brow)
-Loreal Lineur Intense Carbon Black felt tip liquid liner pen
-NYX "Purple" Candy Glitter liner (over black liner)
-Mon Ennui "Purple People Pleaser" glitter (patted over Candy Glitter)
-Mac Fuchsia glitter (patted over Candy Glitter, mostly on outer wing)
-Cover Girl Lash Perfection mascara in Very Black
-NYX "Funky Diva" false lashes
-BFTE "Light Beige" mineral foundation
-No7 Radiant Glow concealer in shade II
This pinky-orange color in the 120 palette is practically neon, it's amazing! I think I'll be using it again soon...<3
The only thing I'm not crazy about is the liner, I think it looks a little weird. I started out patting the Mon Ennui glitter over the Candy Glitter liner but it was too dark so I switched to the Mac glitter which is brighter and more sparkly. The crazy lashes were an afterthought, lol. I'd like to recreate this sometime as a full face with different lashes. :)
Becky took this while I was applying the makeup, lol.

Day 7: EOTDs by Singinferyoo

Day 7 and I'm bringing you two lovely eye looks by my youngest sister Abby, who has graciously consented to let me share them with you!
Bright yellow, orange, and turquoise: for this I believe she used my BH 120 Palette (1st edition) for the yellow, the orange is Sugarpill's Flamepoint, and the turquoise is Urban Decay Shadow Stick in Clash topped with a turquoise shadow from the 120 palette. The eyeliner is Physician's Formula lash-boosting liquid liner pen and mascara is Cover Girl Lash Perfection in Very Black. I love this look so bright and gorgeous and just check out that blending!!

This one is pink, purple, yellow, and white, modeled after a bright spring flower. I believe all shades used were from the 120 palette, with NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Yellow as the base for the lower lashline. Physician's Formula liner and Cover Girl Lash Perfection mascara again. Both looks used NYX JEP in Milk as a base.

I think she did a great job and I would wear either of these looks anywhere! So bright and fun and perfect for Spring/Summer. ;)

Makeup Challenge: Mellow Yellow

This week's NTMS challenge is Mellow Yellow so here's my look. It's not that mellow really but I don't think that matters, lol. I thought it was bright and cheerful, it reminded me of Spring! Also I don't know if it's noticeable but.. my Dad has been watching Hawaii Five-0 on Netflix and mentioned the fashion of the time, so I may have had Mod 60s makeup in the back of my mind when I did this. x3
Please click the pics to view in better detail!
Products:

Eyes:
-UDPP
-NYX Milk JEP
-BH 120 Palette, 1st edition (matte yellow on outer corner, matte white on lid)
-Sugarpill Buttercupcake (middle lid)
-BFTE "Sweet Nibblets" (inner lid)
-BFTE "Satin Sheets" (browbone)
-BFTE "Very Vanilla" (blend edges)
-Loreal Lineur Intense Carbon Black felt tip liquid liner pen
-Sephora mini white pencil (waterline)
-Cover Girl Lash Perfection mascara in Very Black
-Red Cherry lashes #747S
-Ardell Latex-Free clear lash adhesive (this stuff sucks)
-BH 120 Palette, 1st edition (matte medium brown on brows)

Face/Cheeks:
-mark. face primer
-Revlon Colorstay foundation (Ivory/Buff mixed)
Darling Girl Cosmetics:
-Boy Crazy blush (used as bronzer/contour)
-Cheeky blush
-Cherry Bomb blush
-Evil Shades blush in Atomic
-BFTE "Pyxis" highlighter
-Hard Candy Glamoflauge concealer in Light
-mark. setting powder

Lips:
-OCC Lip Tar in Queen
-CS 66 lipcolor palette, various shades
-NYX gloss in Smokey Look
-some other random stuff I can't remember lol

This look is a lot more... monochromatic than I usually do. I kept wanting to add other colors but since it was for a challenge I wanted to keep the focus on the yellow.
I had a lot of problems with this one, like I don't know what I did wrong but my eyelids immediately began creasing badly and you can kind of see it in some of the pics. >.<
The Ardell clear lash glue is terrible and I don't think I'll be using it anymore. I thought it might be better/easier/less messy than my Duo Dark but alas, it's not. It gets sticky after a second and it's hard to get enough on the lash to make it stick to your eyes. I've used it in my last few looks and you might be able to see the lash strip actually coming off in some of the pics. Not impressed :/
No-flash pic. My lips didn't look that mottled in real life :(
I got a little bored while editing these pics and it finally dawned on me that the makeup looks the same from every angle... it's not very complex so it makes it hard to get a variety of pics that are  interesting, lol. Oh well ;P
Different camera, no flash.
Anyway,  still enjoyed doing this since it's not something I'd ordinarily have done. I hope you enjoyed it :)
 Thanks for reading!<3
